Is the GB WhatsApp update safe to install and what new features does it include?

I noticed there’s a new GB WhatsApp update out, and I’m wondering if anyone here has already installed it. Is it safe to update without losing any data? Also, what are the new features in this version—anything really worth the update? Would love to hear your experiences or tips before I go ahead with it. Thanks!
