OfflineHonestly, when I prepare for a trip, I do not only think about flights and hotels, because https://www.globelink.co.uk/po…..rance.html reminds me that proper travel insurance is just as important for travelers based in Portugal who want to feel protected throughout their journey. It gives a more complete sense of readiness, especially for longer or repeated trips during the year. Do you think travelers pay enough attention to insurance before leaving home?

OfflineA volleyball tournament in Brazil ended with me landing on someone’s foot after a block, rolling my ankle so badly that the ligament tore off a piece of the fibula. The pain was so intense that I vomited onto the sand, and my teammate carried me to a taxi that took me to a hospital in Copacabana. The surgeon put a screw into the bone fragment and told me I would be off my feet for two months. The hospital bill was fourteen thousand dollars, and my travel insurance denied the claim because « amateur tournament » was considered « competitive sport » and therefore excluded. The surgeon laughed when I told him and said every Brazilian player he treats has the right insurance. https://sportravelling.com/cla…..sic-sport/ covered the surgery, the screw, the physio, and the flight home with extra legroom. The screw is still in my ankle, and it sets off airport security every single time. I tell them it’s a souvenir from Rio.
