Hey! If you’re scaling up a fungal fermentation process like Aspergillus niger, Pilot fermentors https://brsbiotech.com/catalog…..oreactors/ could be a great fit. Their SIP (Sterilizable-In-Place) systems offer flexibility, which is essential for adapting to different process conditions. In terms of mixing uniformity and oxygen transfer, their designs are optimized for both, ensuring efficient aeration and agitation for fungal cultures. The sterilization efficiency is also robust, thanks to their advanced SIP features, which help maintain sterility without the need for disassembly. This should address your concerns and improve process consistency during scale-up.

I’ve used ZETA’s pilot fermentors (200L) for Aspergillus, and they’re solid for scale-up. Mixing uniformity is a challenge with viscous broths—we switched to pitched-blade impellers, which helped. Oxygen transfer is tough—needed to optimize sparging and agitation, but off-gas analysis showed CO2 issues. SIP sterilization worked fine, but CIP flow rates were limiting for sticky residues. Automation (via ZETA’s software) was intuitive, but pricey.
