My wife’s little Seat Ibiza has been sitting for a few weeks while she was traveling and now it’s completely dead like not even a flicker from the dash dead and I’m trying to figure out if I can just grab any battery from the nearest shop or if these Spanish cars have some weird coding requirement like the German ones do because I really don’t want to mess up the ECU or the radio by just slapping a new one in and hoping for the best. I had a look under the hood and the existing battery looks like some generic brand that’s probably been in there since the car was new five years ago so it’s definitely due for a change but I’m not sure what the correct CCA rating is for this climate and whether I need an AGM or just a standard flooded battery since it’s got stop start which I always disable anyway because it drives me crazy in traffic. I found a page at https://batteryzoneuae.com/sea…..placement/ that seems to list the specific models and battery types which is helpful because I honestly didn’t even know where to start and I don’t want to show up to a shop and have them sell me the wrong thing just because they don’t stock the right size and want to make a sale. Anyone replaced one on a Seat recently and can tell me if it’s just a straightforward swap or if I need to have the battery management system reset because I’d rather just get it done once and not have to think about it again for another few years and the last thing I need is my wife’s car throwing warning lights at her on the way to work.
