I honestly don’t know how much longer I can do the Sheikh Zayed Bridge commute with the AC acting like it’s just not in the mood anymore and my shirt looking like I entered a wet t-shirt contest by the time I park at the office. It’s a 2016 Prado and up until about two weeks ago it was an icebox in there which is why I’ve put up with the fuel bills and the floaty suspension for so long because at least I was cool and comfortable but now it’s just sort of lukewarm air with a hint of old cabin filter smell and I’m getting desperate. I already tried one of those quick lube places near Electra Street thinking maybe it just needed a simple gas recharge and the guy hooked up his machine mumbled something about pressure being okay and then tried to sell me a new compressor for like four grand which felt like a total guess rather than an actual diagnosis. I’m trying to find somewhere that actually understands Toyota systems without charging dealership prices because I’m pretty sure it could just be a clogged expansion valve or maybe the condenser fins are full of sand from all the construction around Reem Island, but I’m not a mechanic I just read forums and pretend to know what I’m talking about. Saw someone mention a shop that does Toyota AC repair and maintenance Abu Dhabi  and actually takes the time to check the evaporator core and the magnetic clutch before throwing parts at the problem which sounds like a refreshing change of pace honestly. Anyone else had their Toyota AC slowly give up on life in this humidity and can tell me if it’s usually a simple fix or if I should start mentally preparing for a hefty bill?
